The Little Lady Agency, by Hester Browne

This book is just the type of book I like to read-a sweet, funny, satisfying piece of chic lit.
The story starts with Melissa getting fired from her job. Because her wealthy and selfish father can't bear to spend money on anyone but himself she needs to find a new job pronto. She's recommended by a former classmate to approach an old teacher for a job, which she does, only to discover that the teacher is running a upscale prostitution agency, which innocent Melissa doesn't quite get until going on two rather unsavory dates. Then, inspiration strikes and Melissa is running a business like the one she thought her teacher had, but with less innuendo. Melissa's agency, the Little Lady Agency, gets things done for men they can't do, or are too chickened to do themselves. She poses as girlfriends, plans parties, goes shopping, and gets rid of useless cleaning ladies as Honey, her daring alter ego. Of course, she has one client who she falls for (of course). In this case, his name is Jonathan Riley and he's a handsome, divorced, clueless American (the book takes place in London so all Americans are either dashing or totally uncouth). I should stop here. I'll just say that I have a feeling my first guy mentioned in the book theory will end up playing out in the sequels. I shouldn't have said that!!!!!!!

I cannot stand characters who don't stand up for themselves. Melissa doesn't think that she's all that but sees Honey as amazing. She lets everyone take advantage of her while I'm sitting there and screaming "Noooooooooo!!!! Do something!!!!!!!". And I love Nelson. Never thought I'd love a character named Nelson, but I do.

5 stars. Pure Awesomeness. With a capital A.

Another reason why I read it is because Sophie Kinsella commented.
